Sisters Empowering Women, Inc.
Road to Wellness

Our 8-12 month program will provide low-income families, specifically those where a woman is the head of household, as well as women and girls  of color who are living in poverty regardless of household status, to participate in a multifaceted curriculum designed to improve eating habits, encourage a focus on health and wellness, promote physical fitness and provide a better understanding of where our food comes from and how it ends up on our tables.

Road to Wellness  provides girls of color in foster care and those in low income neighborhoods with:

  • Basic health monitoring (blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI and glucose)
  • Enrichment workshops (including but not limited to - Nutrition, food groups, processed vs. fresh, wellness, self-care, healthy recipes and the importance of exercise)

The hope is that by the end of the program participants will develop better, healthier habits.
